EU-SA APP II - Aerodromes Landscape
in South Asia Workshop
This workshop on aerodrome regulatory and technical requirements will bring all South Asian states together for theoretical insights and hands-on exercises, fostering knowledge-sharing and capacity-building for safer, more efficient aerodromes.
25 - 29 November 2024
The aerodromes workshop aims to address key regulatory and technical requirements for safe and efficient aerodrome operations across South Asia. This will be the first dedicated activity in the EU-South Asia APP II project focused on aerodromes, with all South Asian tates invited to participate.
Target participants include members from the Civil Aviation Authorities in South Asia and relevant representatives of arerodrome operators.
Detailed Workshop Objectives:
-
Understanding European regulatory structures: Providing participants with an overview of the European regulatory framework for aerodromes, including insights into competent authority requirements, inspection procedures, and oversight mechanisms to facilitate alignment with international standards.
-
Developing competent authorities: Focusing on the roles, required competencies, and functions of aerodrome inspectors, alongside the processes for managing deviations and planning certification, oversight, and ongoing compliance cycles,
-
Enhancing aerodrome operator standards: Exploring critical aerodrome operator requirements, including documentation standards, certification specifications, and effective management of safety programmes and safety committees.
-
Risk and hazard management: Offering training on specific hazard management areas such as obstacle assessments, wildlife control, adverse meteorological conditions, and the Aerodrome Emergency Response Plan to build resilience and enhance operational safety.
-
Safety Management Systems (SMS) and tools: Introducing participants to SMS concepts and the EASA management tool, with practical exercises aimed at integrating safety management principles into aerodrome operations.
-
Practical exercises in oversight and audit management: Engaging participants in practical scenarios to develop and implement oversight cycles, conduct effective audits, and manage changes within aerodrome operations, especially in areas like Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (RFFS) and electrical equipment requirements.
-
Regional knowledge exchange and networking: Facilitating a platform for sharing best practices and common challenges, with the participation of representative stakeholders from South Asia to foster regional cooperation and harmonized aerodrome safety standards.
Note: Each day will include breaks for networking, refreshments, and informal discussions. The agenda is subject to adjustments based on participant feedback and emerging topics of interest.
Participants will gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in aerodrome regulatory and technical requirements, including certification processes, safety management, and hazard mitigation. Through case studies, guided exercises, and discussions on key topics such as aerodrome manuals, obstacle assessments, and emergency response planning, participants will leave the workshop with the tools needed to strengthen aerodrome safety and operational standards in their respective states. Additionally, the session will foster collaboration among South Asian stakeholders, setting the stage for ongoing regional cooperation in aerodrome management and oversight, guided by the EU-SA APP II aerodromes expert.
From the EU-SA APP II, we wish you a successful event.
